US chain restaurant TGI Fridays have launched a new vegan menu for the first time ever in the UK.
TGI Fridays is an American themed casual chain restaurant that’s been around for the last 30 years and finally they have caught up by adding vegan options to their menu.
All new plant based-meals will be in keeping with TGI’s famous bold flavours and side dishes include crunchy fries, house salad and asian slaw. The rest of the vegan menu looks like this:
2. Vegan garlic bread with avocado houmous
4. Roasted veg alfredo pasta & garlic vegetable fajitas with edamame beans and scorpion sauce
Terry McDowell, head of food and drink at TGI Fridays UK and creator of the new menu, told GetSurrey: “Fridays has always been on the cusp of new food trends in the UK, and we felt the time was right to put a focus on new vegan items on our menu to cater to the ever-increasing demand.”
Virgin Trains were another company to expand their vegan menu by offering a plant-based cooked breakfast to all customers on the West Lines, and news of a new vegan cake at Costa Coffee was also well received recently.
2018 is already shaping into the best year for veganism with an extraordinary amount of Veganuary participants and more and more vegan products being launched at supermarkets each week.
