Poached pears on the BBQ taste incredible with a huge dollop of dairy-free ice cream. This is by far one of the simplest desserts you can make and definitely the cheapest. The best bit is that it takes hardly any prep and you can cook it in the BBQ embers/coals whilst all the savoury stuff is being made.
3 Medium pears
2 tbspMaple Syrup
1 tspVanilla Extract
1In a bowl mix together the maple syrup, vanilla extract and cinnamon.
2Chop the pears in half and scoop out the core. Then place each chopped pear in its own tin foil pouch with the insides facing up.
3Pour the maple sauce over each set of pears and seal the tin foil pouch. The tin foil is going to act as a little steamer, so dont wrap the pears too tight; leave a gap between the pear and roof of the tin foil.
4Now you can place each tin foil pouch in the coals of the BBQ for 20-30mins.
5Open the tin foil pear pouches, but be careful the steam doesn't burn as it's released. Serve with a scoop of your favourite vanilla dairy-free ice cream.
