It was reported today in The Grocer that Authentic Food Company, has made an exclusive deal to bring the US vegan brand’s Beyond Burger to Tesco supermarkets by August 2018.

Just like the No Bull bugers, Beyond Burgers will be sold frozen and contain no gluten, GMOs or soya ingredients.

The Beyond Burger is made up of 20g of pea protein and is said to look and cook just like a beef patty. While having more protein, it also contains more iron and less saturated fat than a beef burger.

“A burger so similar to the classic American burger (and far more healthful) that it’s become the first ever plant-based product sold in the meat department at Whole Foods.” (LA Times)

Beyond Meat will also be served in restaurants around the UK, but they also have plans to expand into Germany, Canada, Australia, Israel, South Africa, Taiwan, Mexico and Chile.

It’s still unconfirmed whether Authentic Food Co. will sell the burger next to meat in stores or with all of the other vegan & vegetarian alternatives.

The wait is almost over also for Waitrose’s major vegan expansion where they will be launching 50 new plant-based products to their stores, along with a dedicated vegan aisle.
