Easy but Delicious Marinara Sauce

Easy Marinara Sauce for pastas, bakes, lasagnes and pizzas.

Ok so this is a super easy one, but it’s neccessary. A decent pasta sauce will get you out of many hard times.

Apologies for the addition of sugar in this recipe, we hardly ever use it as an ingredient but sometimes it does the job that’s needed.

Like with all of our recipes, this is based on simple methods and low cost ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of Cherry Tomatoes (or chopped tomatoes)
  • One small Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 Tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 Tsp of Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • A handful of fresh Basil
  • 2 Tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil on a medium heat.
  2. Add the onions and fry until translucent.
  3. Add the garlic and cook for a few minutes further.
  4. Add the tinned tomatoes, sugar, salt and stir.
  5. Allow to simmer for about 20 minutes.
  6. Whilst it’s simmering, use the back of a spoon to squash out the tomato lumps.
  7. After the 20 minutes, add the basil and mix. Allow the oils in the basil to infuse into the sauce for a couple of minutes then its ready to serve.
  8. Serve with pasta or on top of a pizza.
