‘Becoming Vegan Hasn’t Impacted My Game At All’ Says English Cricketer

Mady Villiers is a British cricket star currently in Australia for the Ashes series. She recently commented why and how she became vegan without affecting her sporting career.

Villiers said, ‘Becoming vegan hasn’t impacted my game at all in any way, shape or form’ and she even said that she feels a lot quicker on a vegan diet.

The change to a plant-based diet was instant and she’s never looked back. Naturally, the athlete was concerned about support from teammates, but they ‘always check beforehand if there’s an option’ when eating out.

A typical day of eating vegan for Villiers may include the following:

Breakfast: Toasted bagel with avocado and scrambled tofu, bowl of fruit, glass of apple juice

Lunch: Vegetarian lasagne, risotto or stir-fry

Mid-afternoon snack: Rice cakes with peanut or almond butter, bowl of fruit

Dinner: Pasta with tofu or bean chilli

Villiers uses social media as inspiration to keep up the plant-based diet and encourage others. She commented that ‘Instagram is very good for vegan inspiration and Tik Tok as well actually. I never thought that Tik Tok would provide me with some of my meal inspiration but it actually does,’

‘If you search vegan food on Instagram, you’ll be scrolling for days… so approach with caution!’
