Easy 5 Ingredient Chocolate Brownies

Delicious vegan, gluten-free, chocolate brownies.

Chocolate brownies should be enjoyed by everyone, without long lists of ingredients putting you off. These five ingredient brownies taste amazing and are very easy to make.

You may even be able to get away with using just four ingredients for these if you manage to find ultra sweet bananas and then leave out the maple syrup.

We use peanut butter to stodge these baked treats up, but you can use any nut butter that has the same consistency.

Milled flax seeds are another ingredient that we use mainly because it’s a healthy way of adding some omega 3 to your brownies and adding some cake-iness to the slice, otherwise it will be very sticky indeed. We strongly recommend you getting milled flax seeds in the cupboard (in an airtight jar) as they can be added to everything and cost very little. Best place to look for them is a health food shop.

Ingredients

  • Peanut Butter - 1/2 cup
  • Cocoa Powder - 1/2 Cup
  • 3 Medium Bananas
  • Milled Flaxseed Flour - 2 Tbsp
  • Maple Syrup - 1 Tbsp

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 170C
  2. Line a small baking tray with parchment paper ( you may need some grease to stick it down)
  3. Blend all of the ingredients in a food processor (we used a Nutribullet to see if it can be done and it worked)
  4. Spoon out the brownie batter into the baking tray making sure it’s even all the way across. At this point you may feel like it could be worth doubling up the ingredients and making twice the amount so it fits a larger baking tray. This is fine, but it may take longer to bake.
  5. Bake the brownies for 20-30 minutes and keep an eye on them. You are looking for them to go a little darker on top have a slight crunch and then gooey in the middle.
  6. Take out the oven and leave to cool for at least 30 minutes before you chop them up into little slices.
  7. Serve with dairy-free ice cream or cream.
