The UK government is predicted to ban the boiling of alive sea creatures

The UK is set to no longer be allowed to boil Lobsters, Octopus and shrimp after they have been proven as sentient beings.

A study proved that these sea creatures can feel pain and should therefore be seen as sentient beings. This means that the creatures have emotions and will find the situation very distressing.

The animal welfare bill is where provision areas are set to protect and reduce harm to animals. They have recently announced how Octopus, Lobsters and shrimp need more protection.

Animal Welfare Minister, Lord Zac Goldsmith said ‘The science is now clear that decapods and cephalopods can feel pain and therefore it is only right they are covered by this vital piece of legislation.

Despite these findings, the UK government has said the new guidelines will not affect intensive fishing or the restaurant industry.

If the restaurants still get away with this practice, is it enough?
