Jeremy Clarkson Farmer Protest

Farmers protest the council plant-based plans, and Jeremy Clarkson joins in calling it ‘utter madness.’

Jeremy Clarkson is a well-known TV star and the star of his show ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ on Netflix. So when he heard of farmers protests over the council’s new vegan change, Clarkson expressed his encouragement over Twitter.

Oxfordshire council has proposed the change for meetings and planned event meals to be more environmentally friendly and reduce meat consumption. The change will be for the six formal meals each year for chancellors and others. It’s believed that Oxfordshire will be the first county council to make a plant-based change like this.

Clarkson tweeted ‘Madness. Utter utter Madness’ in reply to an Oxford mail article.

He also tweeted, ‘Farmers of Oxfordshire. I wish I’d known about your protest today. I’d have been there like a shot.’

Clarkson’s stance may not come as a surprise for some as he’s known for his recent Netflix show, Clarkson’s farm, where he raises animals for meat. He even commented that he wants the vegan production team members to be ‘tucking into some beef’ by the end of season 2.
