The future is now! The future is vegan!
Situated at ASDA’s Watford store, the new butcher counter will open in the New Year as a six month trial to coincide with Veganuary and will have a consistent vegan butcher offering – including facon, bean burgers, and meat-free meatballs.
With prices starting from 75p, Veelicious will serve a range of meat-free alternatives such as mock lamb and vegan ‘black pudding’, as well as a small selection of vegan cheeses, ready-to-eat meal kits and vegan staples, such as chutneys and base cooking sauces.
Preyash Thakrar, Asda’s Chief Strategy Officer, comments: “The demand for vegan products is on the rise and we have seen a surge in people seeking out ways to easily enjoy a plant-based lifestyle.”
He continues: “We recognised the importance of helping our customers with their Veganuary journey, which includes partnering with Kbox to trial Veelicious in our Watford store.”
We can’t wait to see how this develops, but we know it will be a hit as Rudy’s Vegan Butcher absolutely smashed their vegan venture late last year.
