Will potato milk be the next oat milk?

DUG Drinks, a Swedish brand owned by Veg of Lund, launched their potato-based milk in the UK in June this year.

The 1litre varieties currently available on the DUG website are Original, Unsweetened, and Barista. They are available in packs of 3 at £7.50 and packs of 6 at £12.50.

DUG describes the milk as ‘deliciously creamy’  and with a ‘really love climate footprint’ that can be ‘used just like any other milk’.

One commenter on the Vegan Food UK Instagram page said: ‘Have been drinking Dug potato milk for months and it’s great. I’m surprised it’s not more readily available’

Another commenter said: ‘I tried some the other day…It was really good texture-wise but  just made the coffee taste like root veg’

Alexander Ntatsos, barista ambassador for DUG, is quoted on DUG Drinks Instagram as stating; ‘I believe that DUG combines taste, nutrition and sustainability. It has reach, creamy and smooth texture that gives you a full bodied beverage. It’s easy to perform latte art and it’s enjoyable in coffee, tea, cereals and cooking. DUG is lactose, soy-, nuts-, and gluten-free making it a safe choice for those with food allergies or intolerance’.

The product hit the news this week with The Guardian and other news outlets discussing the new option.
