Supermarket giant Waitrose is about to get super vegan-friendly with tons of new products launching very soon.
On 4 June, Waitrose will be launching their new vegan range in 125 stores across the UK.
Waitrose are listening
There will be 50 new vegan products to choose from as Waitrose increases its plant-based ranged by 60%.
In addtion, Waitrose will also be introducing a clearly signposted vegan section in their supermarkets to make it easier for customers looking for plant-based products.
Amongst the new range are two exclusive brands: The Vegetarian Butcher (a Dutch company specialising in meat substitutes) and The Happy Pear (wholefood chef partners David & Stephen Flynn).
The new range will include many plant-based products, including snacks, ready meals and 125 vegan-friendly ingredients.
Chloe Graves, Waitrose Chilled Vegetarian and Vegan buyer, said: “Our current selection of products has been selling really well week after week, with requests for more choice coming from our customers and partners, so we could clearly see there was an appetite to have more vegetarian and vegan options in our shops.”
Waitrose sales of veggie foods are up 34% on last year as the number of vegans in the UK grows dramatically.
Prisons, schools and hospitals are also following suit to offer & expand their vegan food options in a huge campaign set out by Animal Aid in the UK.
Where is this all leading? Will we soon be having vegan aisles in supermarkets? Will there be vegan seating areas in restaurants and cafes? One thing is for sure, the future is looking greener.
