Easy and quick way to make vegan steak to use as you wish - with chips, mushrooms and a sauce or in a sandwich with caramelised onions and melted cheese!
Ingredients
1 tin lentils
4 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 meat free stock cube
1 tsp liquid smoke
2 tsp dijon mustard
4 tbsp nutritional yeast
2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried thyme
380g vital wheat gluten
6 tbsp water
4 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
4 tbsp veg oil
3 tbsp vegan worcestershire sauce
3 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 tsp dijon mustard
1/2 meat free stock cube
Directions
1drain the lentils and blend in a food processor to form a paste
2add the soy sauce, stock, liquid smoke, dijon, nutritional yeast, chilli powder, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder & wheat gluten and blend until combined whilst slowly adding 360ml cold water
3once kneaded for a minute, turn out onto a clean surface and form into a log and slice 2cm thick steak out of the log (will get around 10)
4steam them for 30 minutes
5whilst they are steaming, in a bowl combine the rest of the ingredients to form a marinade
6once steamed, put the steaks into the marinade for at least an hour before using. the longer in the marinade the better the flavour
