Sainsbury’s have launched a new fish style meat alternative within the Plant Pioneers brand.

The No Salmon Fillets are made from a mix of jackfruit and king oyster mushroom alongside seaweed which adds a plant-based source of omega 3 to the fillets.

On top of providing 383mg of ALA omega 3 per 120g fillet, the No Salmon Fillets also have 29% of the recommended intake of protein for an average adult.

The No Salmon Fillets are available in packs of two for £4 in-store or via delivery.

This launch by Plant Pioneers follows on from previous fish-based alternatives, already available are the tins of No Chuna (£1 each), a soy-based alternative available in Brine, Chilli & Garlic, Lemon & Black Pepper, or Mayo, Battered Fishless Fillets (£2.50), No Prawn Tempura (£3), and last years festive range included No Fish & Chips.

Aside from the fish alternatives, you can also find a vast variety of chilled alternatives, frozen products, cakes, and ready meals by the plant-based brand as well as the upcoming festive products for a decedent vegan spread this Christmas.

The demand for fish-based alternatives has risen over the last few years with more consumers cutting fish and seafood out of their diet, the rise has resulted in many supermarkets and brands launching alternative options.

Quorn now has a variety of fish style options, Linda McCartney recent launched chilled Fish Gojouns, Tuno launched tinned tuna alternatives and Chad Sarno, co-founder of Wicked Kitchen, co-founded Good Catch, a plant-based fish alternative brand. or order online via the app
