Supermarkets launch vegan specials to the valentines menus
This year, major supermarkets have included vegans into the set menus for valentines. These are a popular option for those who want to stay at home but not be left with cooking.
This article lists the current supermarkets and their offerings for Valentine 2022. All are aimed to serve two people.
Marks & Spencer
Marks and spencer have a dine-in menu for £20. It will be available from the 9th -14th February. This includes a starter, main, side, dessert and a bottle of fizz or wine.
Vegan choices are:
Starter: Plant Kitchen vegan duck croquettes
Main: Plant Kitchen 2 x smokey saffron aubergine steaks
Sides: Extra fine asparagus, Green vegetable medley, Frites Sweet potato fries
Dessert: Love heart churros
Co-op
For £15, Co-op is offering a starter, main, side, dessert and bottle of fizz. If opting for no alcohol, the meal is just £12.
Vegan choices are:
Starter: Mediterranean Style Vegetable Tarts
Main: Roasted Butternut Squash Gnocchi Bake
Sides: Garden Vegetable Medley or Thick Cut Chips
Dessert: Dark Chocolate & Raspberry Velvet Tortes
Morrison’s
Morrison’s offers its set menu for £15 and is available between the 11th and 14th February. A starter, main, two sides, dessert, and a drink is included.
Vegan choices are:
Starter: Roasted Mushroom Vegan Pate
Main: Vegan Beef-Less Wellington
Sides: Carrot & Kale in Orange Dressing, Ciabbata Breadsticks
Dessert: Chocolate Brownie Pudding Twin Pack, Twin Pink Gin Jelly Shots
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s has its valentines menu available until March 1st, so if you don’t fancy it on the 14th, you won’t miss out on this £15 meal for two. Included is a starter, main meal, side, dessert and drink.
Vegan choices are:
Starter: No chicken buffalo wings
Main: Plant-based burger patties
Sides: Vegetable medley or plant-based dirty fries
Dessert: Plant-based tiramisu
Tesco
With Tesco’s meal deal, for £15, you can get a main, two sides, dessert and a drink of your choice.
Vegan choices are:
Main: Wicked Kitchen Wicked Wellingtons
Sides: Wicked Kitchen Valentine’s Veggies & Wicked Kitchen Cheesy Potato Gratin
Dessert: Wicked Kitchen Chocolate Love Brownie
ALDI
Although ALDI does not have a set menu, there are lots to choose from to build your special at-home menu.
Vegan choices are:
Starter: No Chicken Balls with a Sweet Chilli Dip / Mini Sweet Chilli Vegan Fish Cakes
Main: Specially Selected Vegan Heart Shaped Ultimate Burgers
Sides: Veg medley or Tripple cooked chips
Dessert: Vegan Chocolate Melt in the Middle Heart
ASDA
Running until valentines day, ASDA is offering a £15 menu including a starter, main, two sides, dessert and a bottle of wine.
Vegan choices are:
Starter: ‘Extra Special’ is; crabless Croquettes
Main: Vegan Coq-au-Vin Pie
Sides: Veg medley or Tripple cooked chips
Dessert: Belgian Dark Chocolate and Raspberry Hearts with vegan-friendly wine included.
