Watermelon Pizza is the latest food trend to hit TikTok.
Following on from the Tik Tok creators, Domino’s Pizza in Australia decided to give it a go.

The Popular Pizza Chain released a video where they created a pizza base with a circular watermelon slice then added traditional pizza toppings of tomato sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.
Will this turn out to be as controversial as pineapple on a pizza or will it unite all in a similar fashion as the mayo and pea pizza did last year?
Reactions to the creation have been interesting with one user on the Vegan Food UK Instagram page commenting, ‘Not for me’ and another agreeing with ‘it’s a no from me’. However, some are interested in the idea with one user commenting ‘omg we need to try this’, so public opinion seems split.
Watermelon has been popping up in savoury cooking recently with the appearance of watermelon steak recipes last year, again spawned from viral TikTok videos.
Alternative pizza base options have also been gaining popularity as gluten-free or healthier options with many brands launching alternatives. The No Dough Pizza Company and Luna and Fennel have vegan pizzas with a cauliflower base and Sacla have beetroot bases to create your own at home.
